Suzy Dmetruk, an abstract painter from St. Simon’s Island, Georgia, has been fascinated with the interplay of color and texture since her childhood in Salisbury, North Carolina. She formed her love of art, her attraction to vibrant color, and her playful approach to creativity growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from Georgia College with a degree in Art Education, Suzy spent the next 20 years as a professional teacher, sharing her skills of drawing, painting, photography, and 3D design with students in both school and community settings. The next phase of her life revolved around travel, which gave Suzy the opportunity to sketch and paint throughout the world and to visit museums in many countries. Since 2011, she and her husband have made their base in coastal Georgia, where Suzy finds daily inspiration in the ever-changing waters, beaches, and skies of this area.
